What is Anti-Bullying Week 2025?
The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2025 is “Power for Good,” highlighting the vital role that each of us plays in positively influencing others, making safer communities, and actively preventing bullying.
Launching this year’s campaign, the Anti-Bullying Alliance said:
“Every young person deserves to feel safe and included in their school. This year’s theme, ‘Power for Good’, emphasises the positive difference each one of us can make by standing together and taking collective action against bullying.”
– Anti-Bullying Alliance, 2025
For teachers, this theme provides a clear foundation for whole-school engagement on Anti-Bullying. By focusing on the good that each individual can do, the theme shifts the focus from blame to empowerment and action.
We believe that this positive approach will make it accessible for pupils of all ages from Early Years to Secondary.
How Can I Celebrate Anti-Bullying Week?
Whether you have 10 minutes or a full week planned, Anti-Bullying Week is a chance to empower your pupils and create a culture of kindness across your school. The 2025 theme “Power for Good” encourages every child to take small actions that make a big difference.
Here are three Power for Good activities to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week 2025:
✉️ Kindness Postcards
Focus: Encouraging kind words
-
Give each pupil a “Power for Good” postcard template.
-
Ask them to write a kind message to someone in their class.
-
Postcards can be anonymous and delivered secretly throughout the week.
🕊️ One Kind Thing Challenge
Focus: Everyday kindness
-
Challenge each class to do one kind thing per pupil per day.
-
Create a “kindness chain” around the classroom with one paper link per act of kindness.
-
At the end of the week, reflect on how it felt to take part.
🎨 “Power for Good” Poster Competition
Focus: Pupil voice & creativity
-
Ask pupils to design posters that show what “Power for Good” means to them.
-
Display them around school or vote on favourites to share in a newsletter.
The Research Behind Effective Anti-Bullying Week Activities
The theme “Power for Good” aligns with a growing body of evidence highlighting the effectiveness of social and emotional learning (SEL) in reducing bullying and improving pupil wellbeing.
Research from the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) shows thath a skills-based approach to violence and bullying prevention can be more effective than just awareness raising. Their 2023 evaluations found that:
-
Social skills training was one of the most effective interventions for reducing harmful behaviour
-
Programmes that focused on practising empathy, conflict resolution, and emotion regulation led to better outcomes than those using scare tactics or one-off awareness sessions
These findings highlight why it’s so important that Anti-Bullying Week activities do more than raise awareness, they should equip pupils with the skills and strategies they need to act with confidence and kindness.
Turning Research into Real Impact
At OpenView Education, we believe that evidence shouldn’t just sit in reports, it should shape how we teach, connect, and empower young people.
That’s why our anti-bullying workshops and theatre shows are built on what the research says actually works.
We’ve seen first hand how bringing Anti-Bullying Week to life through theatre and role-play can transform understanding and inspire action.
One stand out moment was our visit to Putney High School where we delivered our Anti-Bullying Workshops and Theatre Show.
The experience began with a theatre performance exploring how we all have the power to help stop bullying from happening. Afterwards, students took part in interactive workshops where role-played strategies for responding to conflict and bullying.
The most valuable part of the workshops for me was the drama and the role play. They seemed to really enjoy coming up with the solutions to the scenarios. To other teachers who are thinking of booking a workshop with OpenView Education, I would say just do it, it’s well worth it, the girls learnt so much today.
